More Customer Photos

Awhile back I worked with a customer on some decals for her place. We took some designs from the shop and tweaked them to fit her style and personal taste. She sent me some pictures and I think she did a great job!

Top left corner: We took the new birdhouse monogram and switched the bird for a heart. We Also reduced the number of circles around the 'G' to give it a more elegant feeling. And we used a different font for the 'G'.
I love the laurel wreaths on the doors. We did these at about 1/2 the normal size and used a different font for the letters. Check out the bottom left picture, this was a rendition from the flower bunch decal I have in the shop. She elongated the stems and reduced the flowers down to three. I really like this one..I may just offer it in the shop. We also did some jumbo cupcakes. Aren't they fun?

Home Decor - Owls

Quite awhile ago I bought these adorable vintage cast iron owls from Etsy seller Hellcat Vintage
Although I'm totally liking the orange/yellow 1970s color combo, I knew that wasn't the style that I was going for and wanted to modernize them a bit. The paint was also a little dinged up from 30+ years of use. (Just imagine all the homes they have lived in!)

I knew that I wanted them one color and I was kinda leaning towards white. I'm lucky that my husband has a powder coating business and one day he brought home a car part that he had coated in a metallic bronze color. I knew right away that was the perfect color for my owls and talked him into taking on the project. Check these babies out!

They are absolutely perfect. They look brown in the house until the light hits them just right and then they are a beautiful sparkly bronze. Next I'm going to talk him into redoing our cabinet handles and other metal fixtures throughout our house. It's a really practical way to reuse (go green!) and it also saves money. What more could a girl want?!

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween! We had a nice and relaxing day. I just had to share a picture of my little pumpkin all dressed up. It was her first Halloween and I think she enjoyed it! Half of her costume was bought from Etsy (thanks Etsy!). The legwarmers are from DaintyDivasBoutique and the hair bow was from kachoobaby. I can't believe how well they went together!

Two Peas in a Pod - Customer Photo

I recently had a customer share a photo of her fresh new laundry room. She purchased our Retro Style Laundry Panels vinyl decals along with a beautiful ironing board cover that she got from another Etsy seller City Chic Country Mouse (visit store by clicking here).

Have you ever seen such a great combination?! I could handle doing laundry ALL day with a gorgeous laundry room like this one!



P.S. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it..but I LOVE seeing customer photos and hearing back from past customers. It seriously makes my day!

I recently came across Matilou's Etsy shop and I'm in LOVE! My favorite is this print called 'Plein Vent', which I recently purchased. I can't wait to get it and hang it up. I haven't decided where I'm going to put it but I'm sure I will find the perfect spot for it.

New Designs

Here are some new designs from the Etsy shop. I've been super busy lately with work and trying to get a little bit more sunshine in before fall comes along! My goal was to have 2 new designs a week but I really haven't been meeting that goal. I promise I'll try to do better! I've been lacking inspiration lately..so if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see in the shop, feel free to comment!

I've added quite a few designs to the shop but the ones I'm most excited about are these owls. I LOVE them. I'm trying to figure out a place I can put them in my house. Can you have too many vinyl decals?!

I Heart Color-Think Pink!

Each year my family participates in the Relay For Life. It started 6 years ago when a friend of mine talked me into joining a team. I was one of the lucky ones that really hadn't had a close family member affected by cancer. You get asked a lot, "why do you Relay", and my response would be that I really for the future. My future, my families future, everyone. Well all that changed 2 years ago (3 days before the event) when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Suddenly I found that the Relay For Life took on a whole new meaning in my life.

If you ever get the chance, find a Relay in your area and go. It's fun for the whole family. You don't have to sign up on a team or anything. There is generally a track set up and someone from each team walks around the track at all times. There is food, music and the teams set up booths where you can buy things. At dusk, a luminary ceremony is held honoring all those who have fought the battle of cancer. Find more about the Relay For Life at the American Cancer Society website by clicking here.

Love those around you, believe in yourself, have faith for a better future, cherish the memories, find peace in the struggle, have the strength to carry on, the courage to fight, and most of all, a hope that a cure will be found.

I Heart Color-Mustard and Plum

No, not ingredients to a new recipe, only this fall's hottest new color trend! Mustard and plum is sure to be one of the hottest color trends for Fall 2009. Start watching for these colors to start popping up everywhere! You will see quite a few different variations of purples and yellows, ranging from lilacs to golds. What a beautiful and regal color combination.

As far as mixing in neutral colors, you will want to stick with gray and ivory. Shy away from brown!

Customer Photo

This was a custom order that I worked on for the sweetest gal. It's a pair of love bird grouses that she used in place of a headboard. She sent me a picture of the bird that she wanted and we worked from that. They tured out really cute!

I just have to say that I LOVE custom orders. I do some custom orders like this, where I'm completely designing a new decal. Or I will do custom orders where I just tweak the sizing or design just a smidgen. Either way it's a lot of fun and gives customers a chance to customize their decal to work best for them.

I Heart Color-Summer Sherbet Love

This weeks color trend was inspired by hot days, sherbet, raspberries & just good ole summer L-O-V-E! Ok, so maybe it's just wishful thinking. So far this summer has been full of thunderstorms and rain! I'm hoping my color picks will sweeten Mother Nature into bringing out the sunshine!

A huge trend in home decorating right now are silhouettes, and not just any silhouettes but vintage and retro ones are particularly hot right now!

So I took our cute woodland deer and did a silhouette spin off!

Chandeliers are also really in right now. Here is the Tweet Heart version. I designed every piece of this chandelier by working off a picture of a real chandelier. I think it's about the most chic one you are going to find!

I Heart Color-Techno Color

Sorry that I missed last weeks feature. I wanted to keep the giveaway post at the top of the list so that everyone could find it easier. Customer Photo

Recently I worked with a customer to cut some of my Funky Retro Circles larger (16" for the biggest circle, as opposed to 13"). She was kind enough to share a picture with me. I absolutely love what she has done with them. And the layout is perfect! Isn't that a beautiful nursery?

So I'm a bit of a color junkie. I'll admit that my heart fluttered every time I headed to my color theory class. And for a long time I kept a color wheel in my purse. You never know when a color emergency is going to arise! I know, I know. So anyway, I've decided that every Wednesday I'll post a feature specifically on color. Here's what is hot right now:

This color palette is called Tropical Fish. Bright colors are totally back in style! Love it!

Front Page

We made the Etsy front page for the first time yesterday! I feel that this was quite the accomplishment, especially considering that we are still just getting started. The feature was on graduation gift ideas and I absolutely love the selection of items that were chosen!
